BIDV Insurance Corp (BIC) said that in the first 6 months, BIC reached 447.78 billion dong of premium revenue, up 19.3 percent year-on-year and completing 52.7 percent of the whole year plan, 53.48 billion dong of pre-tax profit, accounting for 44.2 percent of the whole year plan.
Meanwhile, non-life insurance market in the first 6 months increased about 2.2 percent, the lowest level over the last years.
In the early 6 months, distribution channels approached individual customers such as Bancassurance, online website www.baohiemtructuyen.com.vn of BIC increased 37 percent and 80 percent year-on-year respectively.
For Laos-Vietnam Insurance Company (LVI), premium revenue increased 40 percent while profit increased 1.4 times year-on-year. Besides aviation insurance, LVI becomes a leading insurer of hydro power in Laos with the whole insurance contracts for 7 hydropower plants of the Laos Electricity Corp, Sekaman 1 and Sekaman 3 Hydropower of Vietnam-Laos Hydropower Company. Cambodia-Vietnam Insurance Company (CVI) in Cambodia also recorded growth.
Currently, BIC has been completing the procedures to transfer capital and raise its ownership at 2 joint ventures to 65 percent.
