2026: AM Best continues to affirm BIC's Financial Strength Rating at B++
Recently, in Singapore, AM Best, the world's leading financial rating agency, announced the 2026 credit ratings for BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC).
Accordingly, AM Best continues to affirm BIC's Financial Strength Rating at B++ (Good), the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating at "bbb" (Good), and the Vietnam National Scale Rating (NSR) at aaa.VN (Exceptional) — the highest in Vietnam. The outlook assigned to these ratings is Stable.

The rating results demonstrate BIC's robust financial capability, strong operating performance, solid corporate profile, and a safe, effective risk management system.

BIC's strong financial capacity is affirmed by its risk-adjusted capitalization, which is maintained at the strongest level, as measured by Best’s Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR). In addition, BIC possesses a strong internal capital generation capacity thanks to maintaining effective business operations and stable profit growth over many years, combined with a reasonable dividend payout plan. Consequently, BIC's risk-based capital continues to well meet the requirements, aligning with the Corporation's development strategy. This stable internal capital generation capability is a crucial foundation that helps BIC consolidate its financial strength and create room for long-term business growth.

In 2026, BIC continues to maintain a safe, effective, and highly liquid investment strategy, focusing primarily on deposits and bonds to generate stable and sustainable revenue. Concurrently, reinsurance operations are also emphasized to enhance the protection of its financial capacity against major risks and natural disasters. BIC's reinsurance partners are reputable reinsurers with strong financial capacity and credit ratings of A- or higher.

BIC's operating performance metrics continue to be positively evaluated by AM Best. During the 2021-2025 period, the average Return on Equity (ROE) stood high at 16% thanks to underwriting profit margins remaining stable over the years, demonstrating BIC's sustainable profitability from business operations. Furthermore, steady income from deposits and securities investments continues to be a major contributor to BIC's total profit. The stable insurance underwriting performance and prudent investment strategy create a solid foundation for BIC to sustain profitability and long-term capital generation capacity.

BIC's risk management framework is highly evaluated by AM Best, considered appropriate for its operational scale and reality, thanks to the technical, professional, and supervisory support from its parent bank BIDV and strategic partner Fairfax.
